ASL - Thursday, Friday

We just learned how to say Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday in ASL.

Let's keep learning the days of the week!

To say "Thursday" make the hand sign for the letter "H" and then move your hand up and down in a circle.
You can also make the hand sign for "T" and then the hand sign for "H".

To say "Friday", make the hand sign for "F" but turn it around so your palm is facing you, and move it around in a circle.

Let's learn the days of the week in ASL!

To say "Monday" you make the hand sign for the letter "M" and then keeping that hand shape turn your hand around so your palm is facing you, and move your arm around in a circle.

"Tuesday" is the same thing, but use the hand shape for the letter "T", turn your hand and wave it around.

"Wednesday" is just like Monday and Tuesday, make the hand shape for the letter "W", turn your hand and wave it around.

To say "his" you push the palm of your hand out away from you toward the right, like you are going to hi-five someone.

To say "face" you draw a circle in the air around your face.

To say "rough" you put your left hand out in front of you, palm facing up, with your fingers curled up.
Take your right hand like a claw and act like you are scraping the air above the palm of your other hand.

Let's learn how to say Her hands are soft.
To say her, you put your flat hand in a B shape with your fingers pointed up, and push your palm out away from you and off to the right, like you are pushing someone away.

To say hands, you put your right hand up in front of you in a B shape, with your fingers pointed up and your thumb pointed toward your face.
Put your left hand in a B shape, and put your fingertips on your right forearm, with your thumb pointed toward your face.
Bring your right hand in and them circle your hands around each other, and put them back into place.

ASL - Our table is short

We just learned in ASL how to say My Food is Hot

Let's learn how to say Our table is short.
To say "our", you use your open hand, touch your chest on the left side and then make an arc out and back in to your right side.

To say "table" put your arms out in front of you, bent at the elbows, fingers pointing to your left and right, and palms facing down. Almost like you are crossing your arms in front of you, or like a genie granting a wish.
Put your right arm over your left arm, and tap your arms together twice.

To say "short" is like saying tall, but you put your hand lower.
So put your open hand out in front of you, fingers pointing forward and palm facing down.
Move your hand a little almost like you're patting someone short on the head.

Remember to say they, you point your finger off to the side and draw a small circle in the air.
Their is just like that, but instead of pointing your finger you wave your open hand in that area.

To say car, hold your hands in front of you in fists side by side like you are holding a steering wheel, and move them like you are turning the steering wheel left and right.

To say tall, put your right hand up by your forehead almost like a salute, and then move your hand forward and up, like you are showing how tall someone else is.

To say "food" you point all your fingers out and put them together, almost like making a puppet hand. Then put your fingers to your mouth, almost like you're putting food into your mouth.

To say "hot" you put your hand up by your mouth, with your fingers all spread out like a claw. Then blow on your hand, and have your hand move away like you blew it away with your breath.

To say the my drink is small in ASL you first start by putting your flat open hand on your chest "my".

After that to do the sign for drink you hold your hand out in front of you like you are holding an invisible glass, then you bring it toward your mouth and tip it, and tip your head back like you are taking a drink.

To say "cold" you put your hands into fists, and with your fists held by your body at your chest you shake them a little, almost like you are shivering.

Let's learn about some of the things we see every day.

To say this house is big in ASL you first start with the sign for house.
Put your flat hands out in front of you, palms facing down, fingers pointing away from you, with your hands next to each other.
Move your hands away from each other and outward, and then turn them and move them downward.
This is almost like you are drawing a shape of a square house in the air.

To say big, you put your flat hands in front of you, next to each other but not touching, palms facing left and right, facing each other, fingers pointed away from you.
Move your hands out away from each other, like you are spreading them out.

You can just make the sign for house and big, you don't need to do a sign for "this" unless you really need to say that it is different from "that" house.
If you need to do the sign for "this", you just point your finger down.

Hold them up in front of your eyes, and then pop them open into the L hand shape, and open your eyes and mouth like you are surprised when you do that.

duck - Using your thumb and your first two fingers make them like a beak opening and closing, in front of your mouth. The two fingers can be spread out a little to show that it is a big duck's beak.

gray - With both hands open, arms out and your palms facing toward your chest and your thumbs pointed up, move your hands back and forth, alternating either hand. So when your right hand is going forward, your left hand is going backward.
