Olympus and Rhodion


We just learned about Philologus - Bishop of Sinope, one of the seventy disciples.
t Caius - Bishop of Ephesus, one of the seventy disciples.
Another two of the seventy were Olympus and Rhodion.

Rhodion was also known as Herodion of Patras, and he was a relative of Paul and became a leader of the church in the town of Patras.

He had a very rough life and was beaten up by people who didn't like to hear what he said, and eventually he was killed along with his friend Olympas.

Philologus - Bishop of Sinope


We just learned about Caius - Bishop of Ephesus, one of the seventy disciples.

Another of the seventy was Philologus - Bishop of Sinope.

He was a leader of the church in a place called Sinope, which is now in Turkey.

Caius - bishop of Ephesus


We just learned about Linus - Bishop of Rome, one of the seventy disciples.

Another of the seventy was Caius - bishop of Ephesus.

The city of Ephesus used to be part of the Roman empire, and is now part of the country of Turkey.
In the Bible there is a book called "Ephesians" that was a letter that the Apostle Paul wrote to the church in the city of Ephesus.

Some time around 100 AD, Caius (also known as Gaius) was the leader of the church in the city of Ephesus.

Linus - bishop of Rome


We just learned about Asyncritus - Bishop of Hyrcania, one of the seventy disciples.

A few more of the seventy were listed that we don't know much about:

Phlegon - bishop of Marathon
Hermes - bishop of Dalmatia
Patrobulus - bishop of Puteoli
Hermas - bishop of Philippi

One of the ones we know a little more about is Linus - bishop of Rome.

The apostle Peter was known as the first leader of the Christian church after Jesus' death.
Linus took over after Peter, and Linus was known as the first Pope.

Asyncritus - bishop of Hyrcania


We just learned about the Rufus - bishop of Thebes, one of the seventy disciples

Another of the seventy was Asyncritus - bishop of Hyrcania.

Just like Rufus, Asyncritus was one of the people that Paul talked about when he wrote a letter to the people of Rome.

Asyncritus went on to the land of Hyrcania, which later became part of the country of Iran.

Rufus - bishop of Thebes


We just learned about Agabus the prophet, one of the seventy disciples

Another of the seventy was Rufus - bishop of Thebes.

Rufus was one of the people that Paul talked about when he wrote a letter to the people of Rome.
After Paul and Luke went to the city of Thebes in Greece, Rufus stayed there as a bishop to help lead the church.

Agabus the prophet


We just learned about the Aristobulus - bishop of Britain, one of the seventy disciples.

Some more people on the list of seventy that we don't know much about are:.

Narcissus, bishop of Athens
Phygellus, bishop of Tarsus.

Another of the seventy we know a little more about is Agabus the prophet.

Agabus was talked about in the Bible as one of the apostles who was around when the Holy Spirit came down to the apostles.
He went to Jerusalem, and helped tell people about a really bad famine that was coming, where there would be no food.

Aristobulus - Bishop of Britain


We just learned about Stachys - bishop of Byzantium, one of the seventy disciples.

There are some people on the list of seventy that we don't know much about, other than them being listed, or a name being mentioned once in the Bible.

Barnabas, bishop of Heraclea
Phygellus, bishop of Ephesus. He was of the party also of Simon.
Hermogenes. He, too, was of the same mind with the former.
Demas, who also became a priest of idols.

Another of the seventy we know a little more of is Aristobulus - bishop of Britain.

He is believed to be the brother of the apostle Barnabas, and traveled around with the apostles Paul and Andrew.
In his travels he went on to the British islands to tell people about God.

Many people think of him as the first one who helped bring Christianity to Britain.

Stachys - bishop of Byzantium


We just learned about the Urban Bishop of Macedonia one of the seventy disciples.

Another of the seventy was Stachys - bishop of Byzantium.

Stachys was a friend of Saint Andrew and Saint Paul, and was set up as a church leader in the Byzantine area, which is in Turkey.
This place would eventually become the home of the emperor Constantine.

We just learned about Amplias - Bishop of Odyssus, one of the seventy disciples.

Another of the seventy was Urban - bishop of Macedonia.

Urban went out and spread the word of God in the land of Macedonia, which is in southern Europe.

Amplias - Bishop of Odyssus


We just learned about Andronicus, Bishop of Pannonia, one of the seventy disciples.

Another of the seventy is Amplias - Bishop of Odyssus, also known as Ampliatus.

Paul the Apostle talks about Amplias in the book of Romans and says "Greet Ampliatus, my dear friend in the Lord.".

Historians believe he went on to the country of Bulgaria to help spread the word of God.

Andronicus - bishop of Pannonia


We just learned about Epænetus, bishop of Carthage and one of the seventy disciples.

Another of the seventy was Andronicus - bishop of Pannonia.

When Paul was writing a letter to the people in Rome, one of the parts of the letter was written to Andronicus, who he said was in prison with him, and was a Christian before Paul had a vision of Jesus and believed.

Paul also mentions Junia, who people believe was the wife of Andronicus.
Andronicus and Julia went on to the place called Pannonia to spread the word of God.
Pannonia was a part of the Roman empire long ago, but now it is split up into parts of a bunch of different countries like Hungary, Austria, Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Epænetus, bishop of Carthage


We just learned about Crescens - bishop of Carchedon in Gaul, one of the seventy disciples.

Another of the seventy was Epænetus, bishop of Carthage.

Epænetus was called "my beloved" by Saint Paul in the book of Romans, and was said to be the first person to become a Christian in Asia.

He is believed by many to be the first Bishop of the city of either Carthage or Cartagena.

Crescens - bishop of Carchedon in Gaul


We just learned about Silvanus - Bishop of Thessalonica, one of the seventy disciples.

Another of the seventy was Crescens - bishop of Carchedon in Gaul.

He is mentioned in the Bible as going to Galatia on a missionary journey to help spread God's word.

Silvanus - Bishop of Thessalonica


We just learned about Silas - Bishop of Corinth, one of the seventy disciples.

Another of the seventy was Silvanus, bishop of Thessalonica.

Silvanus was a person who helped write down the words for some of the letters in the Bible.
Many people actually think Silvanus was the same person as Silas the Bishop of Corinth.

Silas - Bishop of Corinth


We just learned about Luke the Evangelist, one of the seventy disciples.

Another of the seventy was Silas - Bishop of Corinth.

Silas was one of the people who went around with Paul and Timothy, helping to spread the word of God to people in other places.

The bible says that Silas was with Paul in the town of Philippi, after some people who didn't like Jesus had them throw into prison.
They were praying and singing hymns and an earthquake came and broke their chains and opened the door to the jail so they could get out.
When that happened the jailer thought they had escaped and thought he would be punished for it, but Paul and Silas did not leave the jail, but instead sat and talked with the jailer and helped him become a believer in Jesus.

We just learned about Mark the Evangelist, one of the seventy disciples.

Another of the seventy was Luke the Evangelist.

Luke was a doctor, an artist and a historian, and was the person who wrote the gospel book of Luke in the bible.

Another of the seventy was Mark the Evangelist.

This was the person responsible for writing the book of Mark in the Bible.

Barnabas


We just learned about Nicolas, one of the seventy disciples.

Another of the seventy was Barnabas.

In the book of Acts, the apostle Paul started out as someone who hated Christians, and wanted them put in jail.
Later he changed his ways and became a Christian, but some people didn't believe that he was really changed.

Barnabas was a very well known Christian and trusted by other people.
He came to help Paul and told people that Paul was good, and they went together to different towns telling people about God's word.

Nicolaus


We just learned about Parmenas, one of the seventy disciples.

Another of the seventy was Nicolaus.

Just like Parmenas, Timon, Nicanor, Prochorus and Stephen, Timon was one of the seven people that the Apostles chose to help watch over the poor people of Jerusalem.

Nicholas was from Antioch, which today would be in the country of Turkey.
