Proverbs 3 - Trust in the Lord with all your heart

We just learned about the Bible book of Proverbs.

One famous Proverb is Proverbs chapter 3.

This chapter says to trust in the Lord and he will help you out.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Cantoria - Luca della Robbia

We just learned about the Gates of Paradise.

Another famous Renaissance sculpture is the Cantoria organ loft in the Cathedral of Florence, sculpted in 1438 by Luca della Robbia.
These marble sculptures showed a group of people singing and dancing and making music to praise the Lord, in the words of Psalm 150 from the Bible.

The Psalm says to praise God with the trumpet, harp, lyre, timbral, dancing, strings, pipe and cymbals.
This sculpture shows people doing all of these different things to praise God.

Bending

We've just learned about what a metal Burr is.

Another way to work with metal is Bending.

Sometimes if you have a long metal pipe or sheet of metal that you want to be bent in a certain way, you have to use a tool or machine to get the exact bend you want.

You might want a nice rounded curve, or you might want a V shaped bend of exactly the right size.

There are different types of bends that you can make, everything from air bending, bottoming, coining, three-point bending, folding, wiping, rotary bending, roll bending, elastomer bending, joggling.

There are many types of machines to do all different types of bends, like a cornice brake, box-and-pan brake, bar folder, press brake, punch press, screw press and stamping press.

Many of the tools use something called a "die" which is something with a special shape used to bend the metal the way you want. There are many dies out there, like v, rotary bending, 90 degree, acute angle, gooseneck, offset, hemming, seaming, radius, beading, curling, tube and pipe forming, four-way, channel-forming, u-bend, box-forming, corrugating, multiple-bend and rocker!

Basically any way you want to bend your metal, there is a tool and die for it!

African Clawed Frog

We just learned about the Tomato Frog.

Another frog is the African Clawed Frog.

This frog gets its name from having three short claws on its back feet, that it uses to tear up it's food.

One awesome thing about this frog is that along with the Northern Leopard Frog, this was the first type of frog to go into outer space!
In 1961, the Russian space program took some frogs up with them to do some science experiements, and they took the African Clawed Frog and the Northern Leopard Frog, to see how they would do in space.

Sweat glands

We just learned about the Hair - Sebaceous Gland.

Another part of the integumentary system is the sweat gland.

Sweat glands are used to help cool your body down, and for your body to get rid of some waste like salt.

There are two types of sweat glands, the eccrine and apocrine.
The eccrine glands are the ones that are all over your body, and let out the watery sweat when you are hot and sweating.
The apocrine glands are only in a few places, like your armpits.
These apocrine glands also let out some smelly oils, which is part of what makes your body smell if you don't shower.

British Columbia

We just learned about the Quebec.

Another of the provinces in Canada is British Columbia.

This province is on the west coast of Canada, right above the state of Seattle.
Sometimes it is just called BC.

(from: wikipedia - british columbia)

The province flag has a higher part that is just like the Britain's Union flag, but with a crown in the middle.
The lower part has wavy blue and white lines which are because BC is between the Pacific ocean and the Rocky mountains.
There is a sun with rays on the bottom half of the flag, and this is because the sun sets in the west, and BC is the province farthest to the west.

(from: wikipedia - british columbia)

The coat of arms of BC is the Queen's royal crest on it, and a shield that looks like the province flag.
There is an elk on one side and a sheep on the other.
The motto of BC is "Splendor Sine Occasu" which is Latin and means the sun will never set on the British Empire.

(from: wikipedia - british columbia)

The largest city in BC is Vancouver. It is right on the water on the west coast.

(from: wikipedia - vancouver)

Vancouver Island is the largest island on the west coast of North America.

(from: wikipedia - vancouver island)

The Rocky Mountains go through BC, and there are beautiful places like Banff National Park.
