Peru


We just learned about the country of Paraguay

Let's learn a little about the country of Peru!

This country is in South America, and borders Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile and the Pacific Ocean.
It is about 1.2 million square kilometers, and about 32,000 people live there.
The people in this country speak mostly Spanish.

The flag of Peru is three stripes of red, white red, and sometimes has the coat of arms in the middle.
Red is for the blood of the people who fought for freedom and white is for peace.
Sometimes the red and white is for a type of red and white flamingo called parihuanas.

To eat in this country you might have Papa a la huancaina, which is potatoes with cream sauce, pepper, onion and garlic.

Visiting this country you might go see Machu Picchu, an ancient city on top of a mountain.

Bedroom in Arles - Van Gogh


We just learned about the Van Gogh's Chair.

Another famous Van Gogh painting is Bedroom in Arles made in 1888.

This is a painting of Van Gogh's room when he was living in the Yellow House in France.

He actually painted this room three different times.

Kerosene


We just learned about Jet Fuel.

Another type of thing made from oil is Kerosene, also called paraffin, or lamp oil.

This fuel is used for some rockets, for some jets, and also for cooking and fire lamps.
Some people even use it for some motors for boats or motorcycles.

South American Coati


We just learned about the Northern Olingo.

Another animal in the same family is the South American Coati, also called the ring-tailed coati or the nasua nasua.

This animal is about 10 pounds, and has about 40 inches long.
It can be in a few different colors like black or brown, with rings on its tail and some white marks on its face.

These coati live in South America, mostly in the forests.
