Casket with Scenes of Romances

We just learned about the Virgin and Child from the Sainte-Chapelle.

Another Gothic art sculpture is the Casket with Scenes of Romances, made in Paris, France around the year 1340.
This is a small box made out of elephant tusks called ivory, where a royal person could have kept their special things like jewelry.
It is about 5 inches tall and 10 inches wide, and 5 inches deep.

The carvings on the casket are of a bunch of Romantic stories from history, like Sir Lancelot, or Tristand and Iseult.

ASL - Her hands are soft

We just learned in ASL how to say Our table is short

Let's learn how to say Her hands are soft.
To say her, you put your flat hand in a B shape with your fingers pointed up, and push your palm out away from you and off to the right, like you are pushing someone away.

To say hands, you put your right hand up in front of you in a B shape, with your fingers pointed up and your thumb pointed toward your face.
Put your left hand in a B shape, and put your fingertips on your right forearm, with your thumb pointed toward your face.
Bring your right hand in and them circle your hands around each other, and put them back into place.

Here are some helpful videos to show how these signs are done.

Golden Poison Frog

We just learned about the Common Suriname Toad.

Another type of frog is the Golden Poison Frog, also known as the Phyllobates Terribilis.
This frog is the most poisonous frog in the world, and one frog has enough poison to kill about 20 people.
It makes the poison in its body after eating certain kinds of bugs.
If they don't eat the same bugs that they eat in the wild, their skin stops being poisonous.

There are about 170 different types of poison frogs, just like the Strawberry Poison Dart Frog that we already learned about.
Scientists are trying to learn ways to use the poison that comes from these frogs, to maybe come up with helpful medicines.

This frog also has a morph called the "Mint Green" morph.

We just learned about the Sierra Madre Oriental mountain range in Mexico.

Another group of mountain ranges is the U.S. Interior Highlands.

Just like the North American Cordillera goes along the west coast of the U.S., the Interior Highlands is the group of mountains in the middle part of the U.S., between the east and west coasts.

These mountain ranges go through the U.S. states of Arkansas, Missouri and Oklahoma.

Esther

We just learned about the person from the Bible Josiah.

Another person from the Bible was Esther.

Esther was a young Jewish girl who was chosen as the Queen in a time when God's people the Hebrews were being ruled by other countries.

While she was Queen, there were some people who made plans to try and get rid of all the Hebrew people, but Esther's cousin Mordecai found out about it and warned Esther.

Esther talked to her husband the King, and he stopped the bad people who were making those plans, and he helped the Hebrew people be protected while he was king.
