Antitragus

We just learned about the Antihelix.

On the outer ear we know about:
- The auricle or pinna, which is the main outside part of the ear
- The helix, which is the folded over part around the outside
- The antihelix, which is the Y shaped bump that sticks out

Another part of the ear is the Antitragus.

Going up from the bottom of the ear and just connected to the earlobe is the antitragus.
It is a bump that is pointing up.
The shape of this part of the ear helps bring in sounds the way your body wants to hear them.

The flag of Kyrgyzstan is red with a yellow sun in the middle.
The red is for bravery and valor, and for the story of a famous hero named Manas.
The picture in the middle is the shape you would see if you were inside a tent called a yurt and looked up at the sun.

It is a salt water lake, and it never freezes even though it is right by snowy mountains.
The name Issyk Kul means Warm Lake.

In Kyrgyzstan they have a famous story written in the 1700s called the Epic of Manas.
It is an old story that tells about the hero Manas and his forty clans win battles against all of their enemies.
The story is so famous that people think the name of Kyrgyzstan comes from the word for his forty clans, and many things in the country are named after Manas.

When I Survey The Wondrous Cross

We just learned about the hymn Blessed Assurance.

Another famous hymn is When I Survey The Wondrous Cross written by Isaac Watts, in England 1707 AD.

Watts was born in England in 1674 AD, and grew up to be a minister.
He wrote around 750 hymns, and some people called him the Godfather of English Hymnody.

One difference for this hymn was that while most hymns used words from Psalms or other books of the Bible, this hymn uses the ideas from the Bible but doesn't use the actual words.

The tune of the hymn was written by Edward Miller, and is also called "Rockingham".

Monument to Joe Louis - Robert Graham

We just learned about the sculpture Truncated Pyramid Room by Bruce Nauman.

Another famous American sculpture is the Monument to Joe Louis by Robert Graham made in 1985 in Detroit, Michigan.

Graham was born in Mexico, and when he was 6 years old his family moved to California where he went to college to learn about art.

The monument to Joe Louis was made to honor the famous boxer Joe Louis, one of the best boxers of all time.

Joe Louis had a very hard time growing up and in the sport of boxing because he was a black African American person, and there were a lot of people who were racist and did not like to see African American people winning at things.

Because he kept winning and was a champion for many years, he was someone that other black people could look up to and have hope for a better future.

The sculpture is a 24 foot bronze arm, made as a copy of Joe Louis' arm.
It is hanging from a frame, and the fist actually can swing back and forth like it is punching.
This was meant to be a symbol of how the power of his arm helped fight against racism.

Radiator

We just learned about the Car Battery.

Another part of a car is the Radiator.

We learned before about the coolant passages in an engine that bring cooled liquid through holes in the hot engine to cool it down.

After the liquid called coolant comes out of the engine it has been heated up by the engine.
The hot liquid then goes to the radiator to get cooled off.
The radiator is a bunch of tubes with a bunch of metal fins on it.
The metal fins help pull the heat away from the tubes and cool down the liquid.
There is also a fan that is blowing on the radiator to try and cool it down.

The liquid that is in the radiator is called coolant or antifreeze, which is a mix of water and some other chemicals that won't turn to ice in the winter.
