Distal Convoluted Tubule

We just learned about the Loop of Henle.

Another part of the kidney is the Distal Convoluted Tubule, also called the DCT.

As the blood is cleaned up along from the Loop of Henle, it goes to the DCT where it helps control the amount of potassium, sodium, and calcium in the blood.

Yellow is for gold, and the sun. Blue is for the sky and water. Red is for the blood of the people who fought for freedom.

To eat in this country you might have bandeja paisa, which is a very big meal made up of beans, pork, rice, bananas, sausage, corn bread, black pudding, avocado and lemon.

Still Life with Straw Hat - Van Gogh

We just learned about the painting Still Life with Earthenware and Bottles.

Another of Van Gogh's still life paintings was Still Life with Straw Hat painted in 1885 in Neunen.

When Van Gogh was teaching some of his friends in the town of Eindhoven how to paint, he made a bunch of paintings himself.
This painting shows some nice smooth brush strokes and lots of light and dark shading of colors.

We just learned about the Naphtha.

Another part of refining oil is Catalytic Reforming.

This is something using chemistry and a very expensive metal called platinum to turn the naphtha into something called reformates.

Haida Ermine

We just learned about the Ferret.

Another animal in the same family is the Haida Ermine, also called mustela haidarum.

This small animal only lives on a tiny island on the west side of Canada called Haida Gwaii.

It changes its fur color from brown in the summer to white in the winter.
When it is brown the local Haida people call it daayáats’, and when it is white they call it tlag.
