Nobody Knows the Trouble I've Seen

We just learned about the He's Got the Whole World in His Hands.

Another famous Christian song is Nobody Knows the Trouble I've Seen.

This is another song that started off as something that African American slaves would sing.
Life was very bad for slaves that had to work very hard jobs and were treated very badly.
So this is one of the songs they would sing about how they have lots of troubles, but heaven is waiting for them.

It was first recorded in 1867, but the song was a lot older than that.
One of the most famous recordings was by a famous musician named Louis Armstrong.

Lyrics:
Nobody knows the trouble I've been through, Nobody knows my sorrow
Nobody knows the trouble I've seen, Glory hallelujah!
Sometimes I'm up, sometimes I'm down, Oh, yes, Lord
Sometimes I'm almost to the ground, Oh, yes, Lord
Although you see me going 'long so, Oh, yes, Lord
I have my trials here below, Oh, yes, Lord
If you get there before I do, Oh, yes, Lord
Tell all-a my friends I'm coming to Heaven!, Oh, yes, Lord

Rehoboam and Abijah - Sistine Chapel - Michelangelo

We just learned about the Sistine Chapel paintings of Jesus' ancestors, Aminadab, Naason.
Salmon, Boaz and Obed, Jesse, David and Solomon.

Another of the ancestor paintings is called Rehoboam and Abijah.

In the old testament of the Bible, King Solomon had a son named Rehoboam, and then Rehoboam had a son named Abijah.
In the Bible they were not very good followers of God and did not have a great time.

The painting shows a person on the left and right, and a small person who is maybe a child on the right.
These are probably not supposed to be Rehoboam and Abijah.

Hindi - His face is rough

We just learned in Hindi her hands are soft is उसके हाथ कोमल हैं (usake haath komal hain).

To say his face is rough you would say उसका चेहरा खुरदरा है (usaka chehara khuradara hai).

His - उसका (usaka) - sounds like oo-skah - 文A

face - चेहरा (chehara) - sounds like chay-hah-dah - 文A

rough - खुरदरा (khuradara) - sounds like koo-day-drah - 文A

is - है (hai) - sounds like hay - 文A

So all together उसका चेहरा खुरदरा है (usaka chehara khuradara hai) sounds like oo-skah chay-hah-dah koo-day-drah hay.

Internet Explorer and Edge

We've learned about the first internet Web Browsers like WorldWideWeb, Mosaic, Netscape and Firefox.

Another few Internet Browsers are Internet Explorer and Edge.

In 1995 around the same time that Netscape was starting up, Microsoft made their own web browser called Internet Explorer, also sometimes just called "IE" for short.
IE went through lots of changes from 1995 through 2020, and then Microsoft decided to replace IE with a new browser called "Edge".

Greater Grison

We just learned about the Fisher.

Another type of animal in the same family is the Greater Grison.

These small animals grow to be about 60 centimeters, and weigh about 4 kilograms.
They are mostly black on the bottom and grey or white on top.

One funny thing about these animals is that when they are hunting they won't just run straight at their prey.
They will run in a zig zag pattern, then start grunting, then do a loud screech before jumping on their meal.

Olfactory Mucosa

We just learned about the Vomeronasal Organ.

Another part of the nose is the Olfactory Mucosa.

This is the wet skin on the inside of the nose that helps collect the things in the air that make smells.
The mucosa is like the inside of your mouth, and is wet and slimy.
Those smells stick to the wet slimy skin, and then some other sensors in the nose work to figure out what the smell is.

Saint Pierre and Miquelon

We just learned about the country of Cayman Islands

Let's learn a little about the country of Saint Pierre and Miquelon!

This country is in the northern Atlantic ocean, just east of Canada.
It is about 242 square kilometers, and about 6,000 people live there.
The people in this country speak French.

(from: wikipedia - saint pierre and miquelon)

The flag of Saint Pierre and Miquelon is either the flag of France, or a special flag made just for the islands.
The special flag is a yellow ship called the Grande Hermine sailing on a blue sea. This was the French ship that discovered the island.
On the left are the flags of three countries that have ruled over the island: Basques, Bretons, and Normans.

Visiting this country you might go see the coastal city of St. Pierre, which is the biggest town and place where most of the business like fishing happens.

(from: wikipedia - saint pierre and miqueon)

Because Saint Pierre and Miquelon are so far to the north by Canada, they can have very harsh winters with lots of snow!
