Web Browser

We just learned about the operating systems called Linux and Unix.

Another thing that runs on your computer is a Web Browser, also called an internet browser, or just a browser.

This is the thing you use to go on the web and do Google searches, open up web pages, watch youtube videos or go to your email.
Web browsers were first invented around 1990, and people very quickly saw how useful it was to go to web pages on the internet.

The first web browser was called WorldWideWeb and was made by Tim Berners Lee.
Tim created the idea of the world wide web, to help people share information easily.
He shared his idea with the world, and the rest is history!

The first really popular browser was called Mosaic, and was made by Marc Andreeson.
It was very simple, and mostly just had grey backgrounds with pictures and words and things to click on.
After that a lot of other browsers came along where people could do colors, animations, videos and a lot of other fancy programming.

American Marten

We just learned about the Wolverine.

Another type of animal in the same family is the American Marten.

These small fuzzy animals are about 2 feet long and weigh about 3 pounds.
They have dark brown fur and a a yellow orange neck.

Even though these animals are small, they are great hunters and will go after other animals like mice, squirrels and bugs.
In the winter time they will dig under the snow in tunnels to hunt other animals!

Sometimes when martens get cold in the winter they will make tunnels in the snow going down to tree roots to make themselves a little snow house almost like an igloo to keep warm.

Sphenoethmoidal Recess

We just learned about the Nasal Meatus.

Another part of the nose is the Sphenoethmoidal Recess.

This is a place in the back of the inside of the nose that connects to the sinus.
The sinus is where the mucus comes from, which is sometimes called things like snot or boogers.

Bonaire

We just learned about the country of United States Virgin Islands

Let's learn a little about the country of Bonaire!

This country is in C, and borders B.
It is about 300 square kilometers, and about 20,000 people live there.
The people in this country speak Dutch or Papiamento.

(from: wikipedia - bonaire)

The flag of Bonaire is sideways stripes of yellow, white and blue.
In the middle of the white is a black compass circle with a red star in it.
Blue is for the sea, white is for the sky, and yellow is for the sun.
The compass is for the people of Bonaire who come from all over the world.
The six pointed star is for the six villages that were first built on the island.

(from: wikipedia - )

Salt is a big business in this country, with things called salt pans which are flat salty wet areas where salt dries up and can be farmed.

The cactus plant grows easily in this country, so in some places people would grow the cactus plant as a type of fence for their land.

This Little Light of Mine

We just learned about the song Jesus Loves Me.

Another well known Christian song is This Little Light of Mine.

The words for this song were first seen as poetry in 1925, and then in 1932 a newspaper in Montana talked about the music and the song.
No one really knows for sure who wrote it the first time, but many people have taken this song and changed it a little and made it their own.

The first time it was found the words were something like "This Little Light of Mine", but some churches like to change it to be "This Little Gospel Light of Mine".
Some people think the song is about when Jesus told people that the Christian people of the world are like a light on a hill shining for other people to show that Christians do good things to help people because they follow God's word.

From the Bible in Matthew chapter 5:

You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

During some times in America when African American people were not being treated very well, they would sing this song as a way to say that they would not let someone treat them badly and they would keep their light shining.

Naason - Sistine Chapel - Michelangelo

We just learned about one of the Sistine Chapel paintings of Jesus' ancestors, Aminadab.

Another of the ancestor paintings is of Naason, also sometimes spelled Nashon.

Just like Amminadab, Nashon is in the Old Testament of the Bible a few times, throughout the books of Exodus, Numbers, and Chronicles, usually just being listed as part of the old family of God's people.

In the book of Matthew in the New Testament, in the list of relatives of Jesus, Nashon is the son of Amminadab that we just learned about.
So Nashon is the Great great great great great great grandson of Abraham, and the Great great great grandfather of David.

Michelangelo painted two people sitting beside a side that says "Naason".
There weren't really any paintings of Naason, since he was alive many years before Michelangelo did this painting, so he just imagined some people to put next to the sign to be part of Jesus' family.

Hindi - Their car is tall

We just learned that in Hindi:
This house is big: यह घर बड़ा है (yah ghar bada hai)
This chair is small: कुर्सी छोटी है (kursee chhotee hai)
My drink is cold: मेरा पेय ठंडा है (mera pey thanda hai)
Your food is hot: आपका खाना गर्म है (aapaka khaana garm hai)

To say their car is tall you would say उनकी कार लंबी है (unakee kaar lambee hai).

Their - उनकी (unakee) - sounds like oo-n-kee - 文A

car - कार (kaar) - sounds like kar - 文A

tall - लंबी (lambee) - sounds like luh-m-bee - 文A

is - है (hai) - Sounds like hay - 文A

So all together उनकी कार लंबी है (unakee kaar lambee hai) sounds like oo-n-kee car luh-m-bee hay.
