Internet Explorer and Edge

We've learned about the first internet Web Browsers like WorldWideWeb, Mosaic, Netscape and Firefox.

Another few Internet Browsers are Internet Explorer and Edge.

In 1995 around the same time that Netscape was starting up, Microsoft made their own web browser called Internet Explorer, also sometimes just called "IE" for short.
IE went through lots of changes from 1995 through 2020, and then Microsoft decided to replace IE with a new browser called "Edge".

Greater Grison

We just learned about the Fisher.

Another type of animal in the same family is the Greater Grison.

These small animals grow to be about 60 centimeters, and weigh about 4 kilograms.
They are mostly black on the bottom and grey or white on top.

One funny thing about these animals is that when they are hunting they won't just run straight at their prey.
They will run in a zig zag pattern, then start grunting, then do a loud screech before jumping on their meal.

Olfactory Mucosa

We just learned about the Vomeronasal Organ.

Another part of the nose is the Olfactory Mucosa.

This is the wet skin on the inside of the nose that helps collect the things in the air that make smells.
The mucosa is like the inside of your mouth, and is wet and slimy.
Those smells stick to the wet slimy skin, and then some other sensors in the nose work to figure out what the smell is.

Saint Pierre and Miquelon

We just learned about the country of Cayman Islands

Let's learn a little about the country of Saint Pierre and Miquelon!

This country is in the northern Atlantic ocean, just east of Canada.
It is about 242 square kilometers, and about 6,000 people live there.
The people in this country speak French.

(from: wikipedia - saint pierre and miquelon)

The flag of Saint Pierre and Miquelon is either the flag of France, or a special flag made just for the islands.
The special flag is a yellow ship called the Grande Hermine sailing on a blue sea. This was the French ship that discovered the island.
On the left are the flags of three countries that have ruled over the island: Basques, Bretons, and Normans.

Visiting this country you might go see the coastal city of St. Pierre, which is the biggest town and place where most of the business like fishing happens.

Because Saint Pierre and Miquelon are so far to the north by Canada, they can have very harsh winters with lots of snow!

He's Got the Whole World in his Hands

We just learned about the Swing Low Sweet Chariot.

Another famous Christian song is He's Got the Whole World in his Hands.

This is a song that was made famous as an African-American spiritual, from days during slavery when African-American people would sing Christian songs to try and be happy even though they were slaves.
In 1927 the song was put into a book of hymns called Spirituals Triumphant, Old and New.

Since then it's been recorded by many other musicians giving their own style to how the song sounds.

The lyrics start by saying He's got the whole world in his hands, and then move on to say He's got other things, like the little bitty baby, you and me sister, everybody here, you and me brother.

Jesse, David, Solomon - Sistine Chapel - Michelangelo

We just learned about the Sistine Chapel paintings of Jesus' ancestors, Aminadab, Naason.
and Salmon, Boaz and Obed.

Another of the ancestor paintings is called Jesse, David and Solomon.

We know of King David in the old testament, one of the most well known kings of all time of Isreal, and one of the ancestors of Jesus.
Jesse was David's father, and Solomon was David's son.

For this painting, Michelangelo painted a servant woman, and old man and an old woman.
People think these are not supposed to be Jesse, David and Solomon, but just people who maybe lived at the time they were around.
